Innovation and Inspiration for the Extractive Industry
In their latest survey, the ICMM (International Council on Mining & Metals) asked industry experts what they felt were the biggest sustainable challenges they faced. 40% of respondents answered environmental concerns with a further 28% opting for social issues.
Ethical Corporation is pleased to announce that following the success of our two UK extractives conferences we are now taking the event across the Atlantic to Houston, Texas. Our agenda has been developed with significant input from leading lights in the mining, oil & gas and steel industries. That is why this event isn’t a simple retread of what we have produced in the UK. It tackles issues relevant to a North American audience by covering issues like hydraulic fracturing. This issue, amongst many others, is currently a top priority for CSR professionals and we’re right on hand to offer innovative ideas and practical examples to take back to your company headquarters.
If you think this sounds the perfect conference then register now. This conference allows you to draw synergy from different (but relevant) sectors, and take away best practice from other companies and apply them to your own. Some of the topics that will be addressed in detail include:
- Effective stakeholder engagement: How to construct productive long-term relationships with governments, NGOs and employees
- Mitigate environmental damage: Minimize the impact of fracking, increased water usage & carbon footprint trails to keep your reputation intact and reduce project costs
- Maintain your social license to operate: Build effective community relations and improve productivity at site level
- Manage supply chain risks: Implement best practice to ensure your suppliers and contractors do not merely agree on paper
- Prevent policy breaches: Carry out human rights due diligence, comply with changing legislation and get effective guidance on preventing reputational damage
- Expert tips on operating in conflict zones: Identify and calculate risks to your business
- Project finance: How to pass the funding tests that banks set out
- Implement CSR strategies on site level: Put policies into action across global operations – and learn how to maximize your company value
